Important Announcement On COVID-19

Updated March 19, 2020

Dear beloved Church,

As concerns regarding coronavirus (COVID-19) continue to develop, our church leadership remains diligent in evaluating the latest information available at national and local levels to inform the actions we are taking to ensure the health and safety of our congregation. As a precautionary measure, our CUMC English Ministry Council has decided to close our in-person Sunday worship service until further notice and provide our usual Sunday service through web based live-streaming only. This Sunday, gather your family and friends together behind your TV or computer screen and join us to worship and hear the word of God through the live broadcast at https://www.facebook.com/cumchawaii (no log in required, simply click on 'Videos'). Members of our praise team and I will be leading our worship via the camera this Sunday, and our worship through our tithes and offerings can continue via our online giving service with Tithe.ly (go to the link: bit.ly/cumcgift).

Worship Livestream
(available this Sunday, 11:15am)

We believe this is our best course of action to protect one another and to ensure each other's safety. While the virus may not impair a majority of us, we do not wish to increase the risk of carrying and/or transmitting the virus to those whom it may be a much more serious harm, i.e. the elderly and those with other conditions. We earnestly pray that the virus will quickly pass over us by the blood of Jesus but in the meanwhile, we want to be watchful and careful to do no harm to one another. In such times as these, our faith in Jesus and our mission to love one another becomes all the more essential and a witness to all who suffer and fear without the grace of God. We must seek the Lord wholeheartedly more than ever!

Our council will continue to monitor the situation and will inform you of any changes and updates weekly. Please contact me with any questions and comments. In the meantime, let us faithfully continue our lives of living worship and Christian discipleship wherever God places us. As we seek guidance from the Lord together, remember Christ's words to us: "my peace I give you. I do not give as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." (John 14:27)

Pastor In Kwon and the council.
